A HOUSE FULL OF LOVE, LAUGHTER AND GOODNESS..
House of CocoJett is named in honor of the one and only CocoJett. My mom found her in her yard of the childhood home that I grew up in and gave her the name Coco and I gave her the middle name Jett after my favorite female rocker Joan Jett. She was about 3 months old and the cutest thing I had ever seen. Coco it turned out was a natural-born Manx breed cat. These are cats that are usually born from parents with regular size tails and a genetic aberration occurs where the kitten has a shorter smaller tail in one variation or another.
For competitive shows any semblance of a tail disqualifies the cat automatically from competing. But to breed them to not have any kind of tail at all can create health issues lumped under the category of Manx Syndrome. These issues can include incontinence and not being able to use their back legs. So many "throwaways" end up in rescues because of irresponsible breeders and competitions. Coco had a tail which thankfully kept her from having any health issues related to Manx Syndrome. Not only did her tail tell us that she was a Manx but her body did as well. Coco had shorter front legs and longer back legs which is a trademark sign of the Manx. She reminded me of a sleek race car and boy was she fast. She would sprint across the house. One minute here and the next minute somewhere else. She had the smallest squeakiest little voice and she was all muscle underneath that gorgeous fur that felt like velvet. When someone first met Coco they would ask me if I had cut her tail.. umm NO as if I would ever do that!
Her physical beauty and uniqueness was eclipsed only by her inner beauty. She had the sweetest, kindest disposition and was always very accepting and easy-going. There was never a question that this would be Coco's house. A house full of love, laughter and goodness.
The house that CocoJett built will feature children's books about Angus & Coco's Meowventures and will address topics that all children and parents can relate to including jealousy, fear, sharing and being perceived as "different". Tails of Two Friends is the first of more stories to come.
House of CocoJett will continue to support animal welfare as I have done for many years. I am working on partnering with several rescue organizations to donate to them a portion of the proceeds from sales of the book. Stay tuned on who those organizations will be!
